On a scale of one to ten, what level of guilt or shame do you think most Christians feel on a daily basis? Why?

Summary: The blood of Christ gives us the way to daily live in God’s presence free from condemnation, guilt, or accusation.

Read  Isaiah 59:2 and ask the following questions:

        • What appears to be the main idea emphasized in this verse?
        •  What effect does sin have on our relationship with God?

Sin affects our fellowship with God, stains our conscience, and gives the devil ground to accuse us. The blood of Christ solves all three of these problems.

A. Toward God

Read 1 John 1:7, 9 and Jeremiah 31:34 and answer the following questions:

            • What does 1 John 1:9 tell us will happen if we confess our sins to the Lord?
            • According to Jeremiah 31:34 does God remember our sins after He forgives them?
            • What should do if we still feel guilt after confessing our sins to the Lord? Does it mean that God didn’t forgive us?

B. Toward Your Conscience

Read Hebrews 9:14 and answer the following questions:

            • What is your conscience? What is its function in your life?
            • How is your conscience purified?

C. Toward the Accuser

Read Revelation 12:10-11 and answer the following questions:

            • Who is the “accuser of the brothers”? How is he overcome?
            • What should we do if we are under the enemy’s accusation even after confessing our sins to the Lord?
      • How is what the Bible says concerning the Lord’s blood similar or different from those that have influenced you? (such as your family, culture, peers, church, etc.)
      • In light of  what we have discussed, how can we pray for each other right now?
      • Take 5 minutes right now to clear up any guilt on your conscience by confessing your sins to the Lord through prayer. Exercise your faith to thank the Lord for the cleansing of His blood.
Consider one person in your life who needs the Lord. How can we bring Christ to them this week?
Some examples of ways to bring Christ to people:
      • Pray that their hearts would be soft and opened.
      • If the opportunity presents itself, tell them what you learned this week about what the Bible says concerning the baptism.
      • Show them they matter to you by spending quality time with them (e.g. workout, get lunch, study together, etc.)
      • Encourage them through a phone call, video call, or text message.
      • Ask for their perspective about things going on around them in the world.
