How would you describe your current experience as a Christian?

Summary:  In order to fully know God’s purpose for your life you must be regenerated and participate in God’s full salvation.

A. Man’s Regeneration

Read John 3:3

  • What does it mean to be born again?
  • Why is being born again a prerequisite to seeing the kingdom of God?
  • There are three steps to be born again:

1.  Repent

Read Matthew 4:17

  • What does it mean to repent?
  • Why does the bible tell us to repent?

2. Believe

Read John 1:12

  • How does a person become a child of God?
  • What does it mean to receive Christ?

3. Confess

Read Romans 10:9

  • Have you believed in your heart that God raised Christ from the dead?
  • Have you confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord?

As a group, take a moment to pray this prayer:

“Lord Jesus I am sinner.

I need You.

Come into my spirit.

Take away my sin.

Fill me that I may have the life of God.

I receive You right now as my Savior and life.

I give myself to You.

I ask this in Your name, Amen“

B. God’s Full Salvation

Be Baptized:

Read Mark 16:16

  • Why does the bible tell us to believe and be baptized?

After regeneration, God begins the lifelong process of gradually spreading Himself as life from the believer’s spirit into his soul.

Read Romans 12:2 and Romans 8:29-30

  • What is transformation? What part of our being, spirit, soul, or body is being renewed and transformed?
  • According to Romans 8:29-30, why did God predestine us?
  • How do these verses, along with what we’ve discussed already, show God’s dispensing Himself into the three parts of our being?

  • Consider the four lessons in this series on the mystery of human life. How does God’s full salvation show God’s purpose for our life?
  • Share one thing that impressed you from the verses we read in this lesson.
  • In what way is the truth presented in the Bible about God’s full salvation different from other influences in your life (such as your family, culture, peers, church, etc.)?
  • In light of what we have discussed, how can we pray for each other right now?

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Matthew 4:17
From that time Jesus began to proclaim and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.

John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God, to those who believe into His name,

Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

Mark 16:16
He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who does not believe shall be condemned.

Romans 12:2
And do not be fashioned according to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.

Romans 8:29
Because those whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brothers;

Romans 8:30
And those whom He predestinated, these He also called; and those whom He called, these He also justified; and those whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Consider one person in your life who needs the Lord. How can we bring Christ to them this week?

Some examples of ways to bring Christ to people:

  • Pray that their hearts would be soft and opened.

  • If the opportunity presents itself, tell them what you learned this week about what the Bible says concerning the baptism.

  • Show them they matter to you by spending quality time with them (e.g. workout, get lunch, study together, etc.)

  • Encourage them through a phone call, video call, or text message.

  • Ask for their perspective about things going on around them in the world.
